Girls Football Tournament

We had a great afternoon this afternoon at the Formby 3G Girls Football Tournament.

Although the wind was howling, the girls rolled their sleeves up and ran themselves into the ground in seven difficult games.

An unlucky defeat in the first game gave us a lot to do, but a 4-0 win in the second got our hopes right back up, with all goals from Aaliyah.

A 1-1 draw with OLOC was well fought, and we were winning until the very end, after a beauty from Lucy put us ahead early.

A slow start against Freshfield saw us 3 down after 4 minutes, but the girls worked hard to pull it back to 3-2, a narrow defeat.

Another two wins and a draw saw goals from Sophie, Kerry, Brianna, Aaliyah and Harvee, as the football began to flow freely.

Finally it came down to our last two games. We beat St Marys 4-0 with all goals from Aaliyah once again. In our last game against Freshfield we went ahead early, but unfortunately surrendered the lead to get beat 2-1 to the eventual competition winners.

The girls did the school proud, with their manners and behaviour commented perfectly by adults at the competition.

Bring on the next one!!!
