Y5 - Festival of Speed and Bloodhound SSC

Over the past couple of days, year 5 pupils have had a brilliant opportunity to learn about and experience some top British engineering in the form of the Bloodhound Supersonic Car (SSC) and Sir Henry Seagrave's 1926 Sunbeam Tiger, that set the land speed record on Southport Beach 90 years ago!

On Wednesday pupils visited Birkdale High to learn all about the design and use of the Bloodhound SSC. As a part of their visit, the children applied their new knowledge by making small SSC cars that were fired from a high pressure air pump.

Today, children visited the Atkinson in Southport where they took part in an interactive production about Sir Henry Seagrave's life, saw his record breaking car and designed the transport of the future!
