  • Y5 Space Camp

    Fri 30 Sep 2016 FRJS

Year 5 had a brilliant time at Space Camp on Friday evening.

They played games, took part in space quizzes, make 'glove aliens' and learnt about the stars in our Planetarium. They also had a camp fire under the night sky to finish.

A great time was had by all!

Thanks to the staff team who made it possible.

  • A Team - League Victory

Thu 29 Sep 2016 Nick Hanlon

    Farnborough 6 - 2 Norwood

The opening third saw an open match with both teams attacking and defending, the keepers were busy in each goal! - Callum tipping several over the bar and Kew's keeper responding with blocks and saves. Farnborough grew in confidence, with Oli, Eric and Arthur all coming close but failed to break through.

The next third saw Joe Flint break the deadlock, coming close with one run down the wing and then seizing on a poor kick by the keeper, Joe calmly slotted home his first goal of the season. However moments later saw Kew break near the edge of the Farnborough box. Their striker took a shot, which Dan had covered in the Farnborough goal but a huge deflection saw the ball roll past Dan on the opposite corner to his dive! 1-1.

Joe was having a blinder on the right wing and his final break saw his shot rebound off the post and Oliver smashed it in with his left. 2-1 Farnborough!

The final period saw Farnborough slowly take control of the game and Eric found himself in the right place to poke in the third for Farnborough. Kew didn't allow their heads to drop and with their goalie keeping them in the game with some stunning saves the home team broke to get their second of the match.

This only spurred Farnborough on with Joe blazing over the bar and hitting the post again. Rhys took command of the centre of the pitch and smashed in two goals from outside the box to put Farnborough 5-2 up.Eric rounded off the evening with a confident finish for his second of the match.

Special mention to the Kew Woods keeper who was superb all matchj and Martin Melyov who stepped into his brother's (injured at lunch time) boots putting in an assured couple of shifts in defence for the A Team.

  • C Team - Everton FC Tournament

Wed 28 Sep 2016 Mr Tong
On Wednesday night, the C Team had their first opportunity to play together, in a tournament that is usually difficult for C teams. Our first game saw a win over OLOL B team, with a superb goal from the half way line, from Jake Maloret. The team defended brilliantly after that to see out a 1-0 win. The next game saw us up against Marshside, a very good team. An early goal from them and a harsh penalty gave them the beginning of a 3-0 win, but the team's heads never dropped.
Our final group game was against Ainsdale B. A tough game which we dominated with a strong midfield performance from Charlie, Jake, Jake and Freddy eventually led to Isaac scoring a lovely finish to give us a 1-0 win.
Over the night we looked incredibly hard to beat, and if we play like that all season, there will be a lot of positive results to look forward to, well done!
  • Farnborough - Liverpool Cup - Southport's Champions

Wed 21 Sep 2016 Nick Hanlon

Farnborough A Team entered the tournament as defending Southport and Merseyside Liverpool Cup champions - no pressure then!!

    Farnborough 1 - 0 Norwood

Our opening group game against Nowood B saw the team completely dominate the 7 minute match but were frustrated as they failed to take numerous chances. Finally deadlock was broken by Rhys as he cut into the box and his deflected shot made it 1-0. Our keeper Callum didn't actual touch the ball and our defence spent most of the game on the halfway line. 3 points in the bag!

    Farnborough 3 - 0 St.Lukes

Second match saw a similar pattern of domination by Farnborough against St.Lukes, however this time the boys were able to capitalize on their chance with Ivo scoring the first and Oli scoring a further 2.

    Farnborough 1 - 0 Linaker A

The final group game saw Jamie score his first goal of the competition which proved to be decisive and give the team a 100 percent record in their group and not a goal conceded.

    Semi-Final

    Farnborough 3 - 0 Norwood

A re-match of last Friday's league game saw Farnborough take on Norwood in the semi-final. With Rhys confined to the side-lines through injury, the team had to re-shuffle positions which saw Arthur moving wide on the left. This seemed to work well with Arthur scoring 2 before half-time and Arthur sealed the victory with another clean strike to grab himself a hat-trick and a place in the final.

    Southport Schools' Liverpool Cup Final

Farnborough 2-0 Our Lady of Lourdes

A tense final saw another re-shuffle with the starting line-up of Callum in goal, Joe and Kai at the back, Will central, Oli and Arthur wide and Ivo playing up front. With Farnborough dominating the final, OLOL were forced to tackle hard and defend to their best. However the ball broke on the edge of the box and Arthur hit an incredible left shot that smashed into the top right hand corner of the goal.

This led to OLOL pushing hard for an equaliser and Jamie was able to pounce on a mistake at the back to make it 2-0. OlOl went on the offensive and Daniel was to provide the moment that turned the match when he pulled off a wonder save from the Our Lady's striker, he followed this up a minute later with another fine save to deny OLOL.

Moments later the whistle blew and Farnborough were crowned champions!

Congratulations to every member of the squad who all contributed to our victory. Special mention to Rhys Graham who became the first player to win this tournament 3 times!

  • A Team's Super Season Start

Sun 18 Sep 2016 Nick Hanlon

    A Team versus Norwood

A new season, a new set of players for the Farnborough A Team, with ten new faces alongside the veterans Rhys Graham and Arthur Weights.

The opening line-up saw Dan Colton in goal, with Kai Fletcher and Arthur in defence, Rhys in the centre of midfield, Ivo Melyov and Oliver Wilson taking up wide positions and Jamie Molyneux as the front man.

The team began with some excellent passing moves and a lovely opening goal off the season by debutant Jamie. The Norwood keeper had a made a number of fine saves prior to the opening goal. Norwood responded by scoring two themselves, however Kai stuck with his left foot to make it 2-2 and then followed up with a superb header from a corner to make it 3-2 at the end of the first period.

The line-up for the second period was:

Callum Rollin in net, Will Sumner and Joe Nuttall in defence, Eric Thompson centre mid, Jamie still playing up front supported by Arthur and Joe Flint on the wings.

Once again Farnborough took the play to the home team and created a number of the chances and it was Kai, having come on for Jamie, who completed his hat-trick to open the scoring in the second period. Joe Nuttall made it 5-3 ith a screamer from outside the box, meeting a ball played back to him from a corner.

The final period saw Oli open his account with two left foot shots and Ivo contributing one himself. Norwood created chances of their own and managed to score a further two goals. The game finished with Eric, now playing up front scoring 2 goals to make the final score 10-4 to Farnborough. These were not Eric's first goals for the A team as he scored a hat-trick when guesting for the team in a league game while he was in Year 3.

A fabulous start to the season with the team showing great team work, skill and spirit. Here's looking forward to a season full of memories.
