As a school, we have chosen the ILEARN2 Computing Scheme of Work from Year 3 to Year 6. The scheme of work supports our teachers in delivering fun and engaging lessons which help to raise standards and allow all pupils to achieve to their full potential. We are confident that the scheme of work more than adequately meets the national vision for Computing. Furthermore, it gives excellent supporting material for less confident teachers.
Curriculum Intent
We aim to be an outstanding school at the heart of our local community. We want to create a happy, safe, caring and inclusive learning environment where every child will become an independent learner who achieves their full potential. In partnership with families, we will help pupils to become responsible young people who are on a pathway to success.
Curriculum Implementation
At FRJS we follow the National Curriculum advised programme for Computing Progression units, which covers computer science, information technology and digital literacy. Computing lessons cover 1 session a week in the children’s timetable and teachers strive to find practical, hands on opportunities for children’s learning; through which concepts are embedded in a meaningful and memorable manner. We focus on stimulating children’s enjoyment through fun, memorable activities with tangeable links to the real world.
Curriculum Impact
FRJS believes that every child should have the right to a curriculum that champions excellence; supporting pupils in achieving to the very best of their abilities. We understand the immense value technology plays not only in supporting the Computing and whole school curriculum but overall in the day-to-day life of our school.
We believe that technology can provide: enhanced collaborative learning opportunities; better engagement of pupils; easier access to rich content; support conceptual understanding of new concepts and can support the needs of all our pupils.
