It is a real privilege to welcome you to Farnborough Road Junior School.

I am extremely proud to be Headteacher of a school with such a strong sense of community, wonderful children and a team of staff who care deeply about giving every child the very best experience of school.

At Farnborough Road, our ethos is captured in our motto:

Belonging together, learning together, achieving together.

For me, belonging comes first. Children are most able to learn, grow and achieve when they feel safe, happy and valued. Every child should know that they matter, that they are understood and that there are adults in school who believe in them. Creating that sense of belonging is at the heart of the school I want us to be.

Alongside this, we have high expectations. We want our children to achieve well academically, to work hard and to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need for the future. We will celebrate success, encourage ambition and make sure children receive the support they need when things are more difficult.

However, a great education is about more than results. Childhood matters. We want Farnborough Road to be a place where children are excited to come to school, where they discover new interests, build lasting friendships and have opportunities and experiences they will remember long after they leave us. We want our children to become kind, respectful, thoughtful and confident young people who are proud of themselves and of their school.

I also believe strongly that the best schools never stand still. Farnborough Road has many strengths and a proud history, and my responsibility as Headteacher is to protect what makes this school special while continuing to ask how we can make it even better for our children.

Central to that is the relationship between school and home. Parents and carers know their children better than anybody, and we want to work in genuine partnership with you. You should feel welcome in our school, listened to when you have something to share and confident that the decisions we make are centred on what is best for our children.

Ultimately, my ambition for Farnborough Road is straightforward: a school where every child belongs, every child is supported to succeed and every child has the opportunity to thrive.
