What a fantastic week we had once the rain disappeared! The week beginning 27th June was a sports themed week for Farnborough Road, and what a great way to celebrate it. For the first time at Farnborough Road we staged the Race for life. Children all had to walk, jog or run 5 laps of the playground, this was equal to them running a mile! Every child was rewarded with a medal! For some children this was the first medal they had received- what an achievement for some! It was a great atmosphere, with other classes cheering each other on and staff joining in running and walking with the children. Children were asked to donate a £1 or raise money through being sponsored. I was overwhelmed at the amount the children managed to raise, with lots of children choosing to get sponsorship! A special mention must go to Jake Havers in 5/4 who raised an astonishing £150 alone. In total we raised £958.15. Well done to everyone involved and I hope the children enjoyed it as much as I did! Over the 4 days we managed to run a total of 17miles for cancer research and gave out over 480 medals! I hope this will become a regular event in the Farnborough calendar.
Thanks to the parents for supporting this event.
