Year 3 Football - Southport and Formby Runners-Up
Last night our Year 3 team took part in the Southport and Formby Everton F.C. Academy football tournament. This is the first time we have entered a Year 3 team and they were a real credit to the school. Our opening game saw the team complete a 3 nil victory over Kings Meadow. The second encounter was against Marshside with the team completing a convincing 5 nil victory. Our final league game was against the other unbeaten team in our group Our Lady of Lourdes. In a very hard fought match Kai F managed to score the decisive winner and so send the team in to the final. The final was against Our Lady of Compassion from Formby, who had come through their group also unbeaten. Each game was only five minutes and unfortunately Farnborough conceded an early goal. The team continued to attack and forced several saves from their keeper and a number of crucial blocks by their defenders prevented our team scoring. The boys: Daniel C, Joseph N, Ivo M, Rhys G, Arthur W, Kai F, and Oliver W should all be very proud in the way they represented Farnborough Road and I think they have a great future ahead playing for our school and I look forward to managing them.
