Year 4 Champions

Year 4  - Southport and Formby Schools Everton F.C. Champions

Southport and Formby schools must be sick and tired of Farnborough football teams after the Year 4 team won the Southport and Formby Schools Everton F.C. tournament. This is the school’s fourth consecutive success of the season, every tournament they have entered they have won and they are undefeated throughout all matches.

The Year 4 did it in style; winning 6 out of 6 matches, with every outfield player scoring and not conceding a single goal! They have booked a visit to Everton’s Finch Farm to play in the Year 4 area finals later in the year.

Our opening group game saw the boys complete a 4 nil victory over Marshside with Olli Wilson and Ivo Melov each scoring and Kai Fletcher bagging two including a calmly slotted penalty.

Next up were Our Lady of Compassion from Formby who beat us in the final of this competition last year. The boys were determined to make amends and secured a comfortable 2 nil win with both goals scored by Ivo.

The third group game saw another old adversary – Our Lady of Lourdes, a school who we have met in the final of all three competitions this year! This was a well contested match with Callum Rollin finally called in to action in our goal making three fine saves. However the team worked hard and managed a 3 nil victory with two goals from Ivo and Olli getting the third.

Final group game, against Norwood saw Arthur grab two goals, Olli scoring again, and Rhys Graham getting his first of the afternoon. Another convincing 4 nil victory saw the boys qualify for the final.

The final was a three way competition with Kings Meadow and Kew Woods both making it through from their group.

Our opening match was a rather one-sided affair with Farnborough winning 5 nil. Arthur scored twice, Rhys once and Joe scored his first of the day. Our final goal was a belter from Wilf Beadell, scoring his first ever goal in competitive football. This meant every outfield player had now scored for Farnborough.

The final match of the day saw a tight encounter with Kew Woods. However with most play in Kew’s half, Farnborough finally broke the deadlock with a goal from Kai, who shortly after made it 2 nil with his second goal.

The boys should be very proud of the achievement and look forward to a visit to Finch Farm for the Year 4 finals. Special mention to our two goalkeepers, Callum Rollin and Daniel Colton who shared keeping duties and neither conceded a goal – well done boys!
