  • Robinwood 2019

    Thu 28 Feb 2019 FRJS

113 Year 6 children have had an amazing time at Robinwood in Todmorden.

The photos below represent the range of activities that the children have had a chance to enjoy over the 3 day stay.

Whilst most children will probably be somewhere on these photos, we haven't checked as there is just too much to do!

We have tweeted photos of all the children during the trip and more will be sent via Dojo and be added to class pages in the next few days.

  • Wear orange for Muscular Dystrophy Non-uniform Day Friday 15th February

    Wed 13 Feb 2019

Our School Council children along with those from other schools in the Southport Learning Partnership have chosen their charity for Friday 15th February non-uniform day. This year we will be raising money by wearing orange for Muscular Dystrophy.

Anything orange will be fine - a headband, socks or even a tie! Keep it simple and we can raise lots for this great charity.

Muscular Dystrophy is a muscle-wasting condition. Over 70,000 people living with muscle-wasting conditions in the UK are supported by the charity Muscular Dystrophy UK. They bring together people affected by more than 60 rare and very rare progressive muscle-weakening and wasting conditions.

Muscle-wasting conditions are very rare, affecting just over one in every 1,000 people. As a result, some health professionals may never come across anyone with a muscle-wasting condition and may not know much about them.

  • Ofsted Report 2019

    Tue 05 Feb 2019 FRJS

We are very proud to publish our latest Ofsted Report today.

The full document can be found on the link below.

    https://primarysite-prod-sorted.s3.amazonaws.com/farnborough-road-junior-school/UploadedDocument/dd189e3b40ba4840b22cdad292dc9f4f/10045860-farnborough-road-junior-school-104862-final-pdf.pdf

Our Chair of Governors, Cllr Iain Brodie Browne has also written a letter to everyone in our school community.

We are delighted to send you the Ofsted report from our recent inspection that took place on Tuesday 22nd January 2019.

We believe that the report reflects the school that we all know and celebrates so many aspects of which we should be very proud. It clearly states that we have the ambition to make sure that Farnborough Road Juniors continues to deliver a high quality education for the children in our care and mentions our ‘unwavering commitment to the community and high aspirations for pupils’. We are very determined to make sure that we continue to improve even further in the future. As the report clearly states, we ‘have created a happy school where teachers love teaching and pupils love learning’.

We are always very proud of the children at our school and we are delighted that the inspection has highlighted their excellent attitude and behaviour. The report states that they ‘are polite, articulate and well mannered’ and that they ‘feel valued and listened to’. The report also recognised their excellent conduct and stated that they ‘speak confidently about how teachers deal quickly and effectively with any incidents of bullying and help pupils to make the right choices about how they behave towards others.’

We are determined to get even better in the future. The school has worked hard to improve since the last inspection in 2014 and we will continue to do so in the future. The next steps identified by this report were already areas of action in our school and we will be resolute in our efforts to embed them in the school.

We are proud to be a part of our local community and would like to take the opportunity to thank every child, staff member, governor, parent and member of the local community who has helped our school to become so highly respected.

We look forward to doing even more in the years ahead and as one of our pupils stated during the inspection, 'Our School is unique. We are like a big family and we all take care of each other.'

    Thank you.

    Cllr Iain Brodie Browne

  • Online Safety 2019

    Tue 05 Feb 2019 FRJS

Tuesday 5th February is Safer Internet Day

We had a competition to design a new online safety poster for display in school and for our school planners.

The results were amazing and picking a winner was hard. Sofie in Y6 was judged to be the overall winner and her poster has now been displayed all round school and in every classroom.

Thank you to everyone who took part in this activity.

We have a special section on our website to help families with online safety. It can be found on the link below.
