  • Reports and Parent Meetings Updated

    Thu 19 Nov 2020 FRJS

We have now sent new reports to every family in the school.

Mr Antell has shared a video with families to help explain the new system. This can be found on this link:

    https://farnborough-road-junior-school.primarysite.media/media/our-new-reports-explained

Remember that at the start of the school year we do not expect any child to have hit their target. The targets
are for the end of the year and the children are on a journey to achieve these over the next few
months. The lockdown period will also have had an impact so please do not be too concerned if
your child seems to be a long way from their prediction. ‘Catch Up’ is already happening in school
and we will be expanding this in the coming months.

After reports have been sent we will offer the choice of a phone call or a ‘Google Meet’ with your child’s class
teacher. We will try to be as flexible as possible with these dates, which will be arranged via ClassDojo.

Google Meet is a simple video link that will work very well on any device. It is free to use but you
will need to prepare beforehand. If you plan to use this option on a phone or a tablet, you will
need to download the free Google Meet App before the day of your meeting. If you are using a
laptop, the link provided will work with the normal browser.

We know so much of this is new but everyone has become very used to constant change in the last few months so I'm sure we will whizz through this too!

Remember, any questions can come to me in the usual ways.

  • The FRJS 'Book Factor' Vending Machine - Updated

    Wed 11 Nov 2020 FRJS

The amazing FRJS 'Book Factor' Vending Machine was used for the first time today with 8 regular readers from across the school getting the first turn.

Two children from each year were selected at random as winners and they now take home a book from the machine. Emily from Y3 was very lucky as her book had a Golden Ticket that gave her an additional  coin for a second book.

Photo s can be found below.

We revealed the machine via video last week.

    https://farnborough-road-junior-school.primarysite.media/media/the-farnborough-junior-school-book-factor-vending-

As a reward for regular reading each week, children will be entered into a draw where 2 winners will be picked at random from each year group.

Those lucky children will be able to select a book from the vending machine that they will be able to keep forever. We have a wonderful selection of titles that will appeal to everyone.

We also have 'Golden Tickets' in a small number of the books. A Golden Ticket will mean that the winner either gets a SECOND token for a book from the machine or a book voucher.

We are the only school to have a machine like this in the region.

To win, all you have to do is READ, READ, READ!

  • Welcome Back

    Mon 02 Nov 2020 FRJS
Welcome back to the start of a new half term.

With the Government announcing a new lockdown for later this week, I would like to take the opportunity to remind you of a few important things that everyone can do to keep school open as normal.

    1. Please keep to arrival and departure times as far as possible. If you have more than one child, please come at the time of your LATEST drop off to minimise your time on site.

    2. Only one adult per family group for pick up and drop off.

    3. Wear a face covering when on site.

    4. Please don’t mingle with others. Follow the signs, keep your distance and keep your time on the school grounds to an absolute minimum.

    5. Use electronic means to make contact with school staff wherever possible. Class dojo and email are our preferred options.

School may not be quite as normal, but if we work together we can keep everyone safe and keep the children in school where they belong.

    Thank you.

    Mr Antell
