Every term we have an anonymous handwriting competition as part of our mentoring week. The piece of writing is colour coded for each class and children have a number that relates to their place in the register. The entries are then passed to a different year group to be judged and winners selected. There are two winners from each class who receive a medal. The overall winner for the year group receives a small trophy that they keep at home for a term - the overall winner for each year group is highlighted in red below. In addition to this we have also a 'most improved' award that is judged by the class teacher.
This term's winners are listed below.

Our Y5 and 6 Singers performed at Sainsbury's in Lord Street on Wednesday this week. They sang beautifully and made everyone feel that the Christmas season had truly started!
The children even had Mrs Harrington as a guest conductor for the day!
Many parents are attending sessions explaining our Assessment and Tracking system next week before you attend your Parent/Teacher meeting.
We know that not everyone can attend one of those sessions or you may want to hear it again.
The link below takes you to a presentation that explains our system of assessment and tracking.
It has sound links on each page to help with explaining key parts.
We hope you find it helpful.

We collected over 120 shoeboxes with the Rotary Club to help children in Eastern European countries.
The boxes, which contained gifts, toiletries and other household items, were collected by members of the Rotary Club on Thursday 10th December as they started their long journey. Members of 3/1 helped load them onto cars before they begin their long lorry journey.
Thank you to everyone who helped with this campaign and gave so generously to make this happen.
Last Thursday the Year 5 squad were invited to take part in an indoor tournament at Merchant Taylors' School in Crosby.
The boys played 4 matches and won them all. The defence and goalkeeper were superb not conceding a goal.
The boys lifted the trophy and will be the first names to go on this new cup.
Well done : Callum R, Rhys G, William S, Joe N, Ivo M, Kai F, Ollie W, and Arthur W.
We want to improve our playgrounds next summer. If you have some good ideas that we can add to our plans, add them to Mr Antell's blog.
