  • Year 5 Goodison Park final

    Thu 28 May 2015 Mr J.Spall

The Year 5 football team played in the North West Grand Final at Goodison Park, during the half term holidays. The boys walked out of the tunnel to 'Z cars' and rapturous applause from parents and friends.

The team played fantastically well, especially in the second half, where the opposition team goalkeeper produced 3 excellent saves to keep us out. Unfortunately we lost 1-0, but they should be extremely proud of how they performed on the day.

A selection of photos can be found below.

  • We've got our first eggs!

    Tue 12 May 2015 FRJS

    Day 1 and 2 eggs!!

Year 6 children collected our first eggs and gave them to the canteen for lunch!

  • The chickens have arrived!

    Mon 11 May 2015 FRJS

The school took ownership of 8 new chickens today.

A special run has been built for them in the nature area where they will spend most of their time. We hope to let them out a little more in the winter months, when the daylight hours are shorter, but for now, they are making their home in their very smart enclosure.

The children will look after the birds, with classes from both schools caring for them on a rota basis. Eggs that are produced will go to the school canteen for use at lunchtimes and Kelly, our cook, will make sure the children know how she has used them. We also plan to use scraps from the kitchen to help vary their diet.

Classes will look after the birds on the weekdays. Fun4Kidz will be in charge during the holidays. At weekends we will make sure that they have enough to eat and drink for a couple of days. Their coop has an electronic door closer to keep them safe and warm at nights.

Chickens plan their days by the sun. They like to get up when the sun rises and take themselves to be when it is getting dark. Once they are in a routine, they are very easy to care for.

This is an exciting new venture for the school. We hope everyone enjoys seeing our new friends.

Do we need some names? What do you think?

  • C Team win Greenall Cup

Wed 06 May 2015 Mr Brewer

This evening all 18 of the C team players had a fantastic opportunity to play in the final of the Greenall Cup at Southport F.C's ground 'Haig Avenue'.

The team's final was against St Patricks, a talented team who we had met previously in the league. The large pitch was a new challenge to our players, but all approached it with enthusiasm and commitment to eventually produce a brilliant result!

In the first period two goals from Naveen (well set up by Harry) brought the team in 2-2 at the break.

In the following period our team stormed forward to produce a well worked team goal from Owen, after some un-selfish play from our striker Dylan.

The shorter third period saw a well deserved goal from midfielder Tristan to secure our win.

Finally, the fourth period saw great opportunities for Sophie and Oliver, who both narrowly missed the target.

The team have been enthusiastic and whole heartedly committed to training and their matches. All the players have improved hugely this year and their Greenall Cup win was more than well deserved. Fantastic!

League Champions! Congratulations to the B team on a fantastic league season, in which they had a perfect record of 7 wins out of 7. The team scored 31 goals and conceded only 3. The dedication and commitment of this team has been superb and it has been fantastic to watch them develop over the season. Well done.
