On Friday in Year 6 we had an Art Day. We took an object from our everyday life and recreated Andy Warhol's famous painting. We learnt about Andy Warhol's life and why he chose the iconic Campbell's Soup can. The Year 6 children had a fantastic day and worked really hard, they took their work to Praise Assembly as they were so proud! Even Mrs Ireland and Mrs Knight joined in creating a piece as well!
Apologies for the orientation issues with the pictures below. This is a specific issue with photos taken on some devices and we are unable to turn them the correct way.
Both the A and B teams took part at a tournament held at Greenbank yesterday. this was the first opportunity the girls have been given to play as a team. The girls were placed in the same Group and played against each other for their first match! Both teams played 6 games, the A team won 3, drew 2 and lost 1, only conceding one goal all day! The B team won 1, drew 1 and lost the remaining games. Both teams played superbly and were a credit to the school! The B team played all their games against A Teams, mainly made up of Year 6 children. Our B team is Year 5 girls and 2 Year 4 girls so they coped very well! Thanks to Isabelle McCarter for standing in as goalie at the last minute! Thank you to all the parents who helped with transport and for coming to support the girls. Special thanks to Mrs Kane for coaching the B Team on the day!
The A Team took part in the Everton F.C. Academy Premier League Tournament for Liverpool and Sefton Schools at the Power League in Kirkdale, winning the tournament and now progress to the finals at Finch Farm.
Farnborough's opening match saw them complete a very convincing 10 nil win over Longmoor B, which was quite a feat as the games were only 5 minutes each way! Their second game saw another sound performance with a 4 nil victory over St.Monica's from Bootle. Our third encounter was a closer game, however the team secured another victory, this time 2-1 against New Park. Time for lunch and the team had already qualified for the semi-final!
The team completed their group games with yet another win, this time 2 nil over Our Lady of Good Help. This set up a semi-final against Longmoor and a place in the final with chance to go through to Finch Farm.
The final saw the A Team go behind early on to a free-scoring St Teresa's but yet again the team showed their character and created a 3-1 lead . However the extra game they had played in the qualifying rounds began to take it's toll and the team conceded 2 goals which meant the team now faced the dreaded penalty shoot out! Unlike the England team, Farnborough's players were supremely confident and Alex, Adam, Charlotte and Robbie all scored from the spot and saw Farnborough crowned Everton Champions. The team now play in the finals at Finch Farm.
The semi-final was closely fought match with Longmoor taking the lead. Farnborough changed formation and with only two minutes left in the match, managed to gain an equaliser through Robbie J. The team showed great resolve and continued to press for a winner and with moments to go Robbie struck again to secure a place in the final.
Mr Hanlon and all the parents were incredibly proud of the teams performance and wish them best of luck at Finch Farm.
Last night our Year 3 team took part in the Southport and Formby Everton F.C. Academy football tournament. This is the first time we have entered a Year 3 team and they were a real credit to the school. Our opening game saw the team complete a 3 nil victory over Kings Meadow. The second encounter was against Marshside with the team completing a convincing 5 nil victory. Our final league game was against the other unbeaten team in our group Our Lady of Lourdes. In a very hard fought match Kai F managed to score the decisive winner and so send the team in to the final. The final was against Our Lady of Compassion from Formby, who had come through their group also unbeaten. Each game was only five minutes and unfortunately Farnborough conceded an early goal. The team continued to attack and forced several saves from their keeper and a number of crucial blocks by their defenders prevented our team scoring. The boys: Daniel C, Joseph N, Ivo M, Rhys G, Arthur W, Kai F, and Oliver W should all be very proud in the way they represented Farnborough Road and I think they have a great future ahead playing for our school and I look forward to managing them.
Our Y4 children performed a fantastic concert on Thursday afternoon and showcased their talents with woodwind and brass instruments.
We know that not everyone can make it to these concerts, so we thought you might like to see it online.
Follow the link below to get a flavour of the show.
Please find below the presentation for the London meeting held on Thursday 13th February. Also attached is the letter that has already been sent home to families.
The children heard all about the Radio 2 '500 words' competition in assembly today and we are encouraging them to enter this national event.
This is a great idea to encouarge children to write. Entries have to be made online, but we would LOVE any copies that have been submitted to be sent into school via email. This will allow us to make a display both in school and on this website.
Once you have entered the event, please email your copy to office@frjs.co.uk so that we can do this.
The presentation that the children saw is below for your reference, as is a link to the website.
