  • Important Message from Sefton Council

    Thu 17 Sep 2020 FRJS
    Dear Parents and Carers,

We received an important letter from Sefton Council after school this evening.

The full letter is available on the link below, but the key things to note are that in all Sefton schools from TOMORROW (Friday 18th September):-

    • All adults to wear a face covering when visiting or entering the school premises
    • Only one adult to enter the premises for drop off and pick up
    • That you arrive and leave promptly when dropping off/ collecting your child – please do not congregate as we know that the virus is easily transmitted from person to person
    • We will also be asking that staff wear face coverings when they come out onto the playground.

Our current school plan is working well. Please follow these additional measures so that we can help to stop the spread of the virus.

I will be on the playground in the morning so that you can discuss this with me if required. If you wish to email me this evening, the address to use is adrianantell@frjs.co.uk.

Thank you for your help and support.

  • Keeping School Safe

    Sat 29 Aug 2020 FRJS

Thank you for all of your help over the first 5 days at school. Our system has worked well in general and we are delighted to see so many pupils back in school

As promised we have reviewed the current system to try and help you all as much as possible as we all try to get back to some kind of normality.

    • We very much want everyone to try and keep to the start and finish times we have already  published. This helps reduce adults on the school grounds and the congestion around our limited number of doors.
    • If you have a very long wait because of the start times we have issued, we are happy that you bring your children to their classes at the time of your LATEST. As long as all children are in by 8.55am, this will give those with more than one child a little flexibility and reduce your waiting times.
    • Now that all the children know their routines, you may consider allowing an older child to come onto the site alone. We have lots of staff around and they will be safe. This will help reduce adults on the school grounds.
    • Please continue to exercise social distancing. Follow the signs and arrows and only stay on site as long as you need to.
    • Please keep your children away from playground equipment both before and after school.
    • Finally, several parents have asked about whether we can make masks mandatory for adults on the grounds. We will continue to follow guidelines which currently says they are not required. However, if you wish to wear a mask, it is your choice.

Hopefully, these guidelines will help everyone. We are all managing a very complex situation and working together keeps everyone safe. We know we cannot please all the people all of the time, but we will continue to do all that we can to keep everyone safe.

As usual, please email me using adrianantell@frjs.co.uk if you have any questions or concerns.

    Kind regards,

    Mr Antell

What do I need to know when my child comes back to school?

In July, we sent detailed arrangements for every class and they have been resent via email in the last few days.

If you have missed out on these letters, they can be found on this link:-

    Class Arrangements for September 2020

    What does school look like?

I know that many of you came to school in June and July and so you have a really good idea of how the school looks and works. If you were not able to come at that time, we made some videos which you may find useful as you get ready for Thursday. Although they aren't 100% up to date, they will help! They can be found on this link:-

    New to the Juniors?

If your child is coming into Year 3 this September, we did lots of transition work via Class Dojo in June and July. Again, we also have lots of information on our website which you can access on this link:-

    Year 2 Transition

    How can you help us?

We really need your help to make sure everything goes smoothly in September.

    • Pupils will need their own water bottle and pencil case. School will provide a new water bottle in September for every child.
    • It would help school a lot if you could provide your child with a small pencil case complete with pens, pencils and rulers etc.
    • Please try to help your child to remember their belongings each day. They can only bring a SMALL bag as we are not using lockers or cloakrooms in the initial period.
    • Make sure your child has a black tracksuit as well as PE kit as their lessons will be outside.
    • Please follow the directions on the school site and use the correct gates for entry and exit.
    • Usually we love to see parents on site and we like talking to you as well. However, we are asking you to keep your time on site to a minimum in the coming weeks.
    • If you need to get a message to a teacher or other staff member, please use electronic means if possible. Class Dojo and email are the preferred forms of contact at the current time.

  • Headteacher Hair Shave

    Thu 16 Jul 2020

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to my end of term hair shave which has now raised over £3000.

After delivering boxes of sweets to every child during lockdown, your generosity with sponsorship has been unbelievable and my target was smashed to such an extent that we went for shaving, tramlines and colour!

Enjoy the video on this link and the photos below.

    Thank you so much!

  • Plan to Re-open School

    Tue 16 Jun 2020

We have been informed today that Sefton have given permission for schools to re-open from Monday 22nd June to some year groups.

In our school, this means that Y6 children will be able to come back to school in small 'bubbles'. Year 6 parents have already responded to a letter giving them a choice of days and we will confirm arrangements with those families in the next 48 hours.

Our childcare provision for key workers and vulnerable pupils will continue as normal next week. There will be some entrance and room changes for this facility and again, we will be in touch to confirm.

We hope to give all children a chance to come into school before the summer holiday. For this to happen, we have some plans to finalise and we will write to you again once we know exactly how it will work.

This has been a worrying and frustrating time for all families and we are keen to get all of the children back to school as soon as it is safe to do so.

Please contact me using adrianantell@frjs.co.uk if you have any questions.

A letter from Sefton about this decision can be found on the link below:

  • Our Life in Lockdown

    Wed 13 May 2020 FRJS

Recently there have been big changes in our lives.

We are all living through a historic period as we all experience a worldwide pandemic.

On Friday the 20th of March our country went into lockdown to protect us from Coronavirus, and since then children have been learning at home.

As a school, we wanted to try and mark this happening in a creative way that can serve as a historical record. Here, we have reflected on our own personal experiences of life in lockdown during the Coronavirus outbreak and we would like to share with you our thoughts, feelings and new daily routines.

  • VE Day

    Wed 06 May 2020 FRJS

Our school community has been celebrating the 75th Anniversary of VE Day both at home and in school.

We marked the national silence in school standing near the flagpole.

We also had a 75th Anniversary picnic under blue skies.

Families have sent loads of pictures of their own celebrations in their homes.
